Millard Public Schools is searching for a hard-working, reliable kitchen helper for the Neihardt Elementary School foodservice program, providing meals for students, staff, and the Millard community. This is a 10-month position with year-round benefits!  Enjoy a rewarding position, providing nourishment for kids in a fun, dynamic environment!  Hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.  Neihardt is close to the interstate on the southeast side of Millard, so typically an easy commute from anywhere in Omaha!

Kitchen Helper Position Summary:  Assist in day-to-day operations within the kitchen to ensure a quality breakfast and lunch program for the elementary school student body and faculty. 

• -Operates a variety of kitchen utensils to weigh, measure, mix, wash, peel, cut, grind, stir, strain, season, and knead foodstuffs for cooking, serving, and storing
• -Cleans and prepares vegetables and fruits
• -Reads recipes and/or product directions and assists in preparing foods, and properly stores food, utilizing knowledge of temperature requirements and spoilage
• -Tastes products, reads menus and keeps records to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment
• -Cleans and sanitizes work areas and equipment and follows all Sodexo, Millard Public Schools, and regulatory rules and procedures
• -Records production numbers in production records as needed, and assists in ensuring a safe working environment throughout the facility for all employees using HACCP and temperature (milk, freezer, refrigerator, line box) logs. Reports to the Production Manager any service requests and work orders promptly
• -Prepares for meal service and cleans assigned areas after service 

Knowledge and Skills:  Applies basic cooking skills and may develop advanced skills using tools and equipment appropriate for the position.

Requirements: Education or Equivalent Experience:  High School diploma or GED
