Job Description:  Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)/Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

 

Reports to:  Supervisor Nurse, Building Principal, Director of Student Services

 

General Summary:   Certified Medical Assistant/Certified Nursing Assistant certificate from an accredited program. Experience in healthcare of children and adolescents highly desirable. Responsible for delivering health services at building level in accordance with the Millard Public Schools guidelines and policies. Excellent communication skills, flexibility and ability to work cooperatively in a team environment is essential.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Knows and complies with district policies, rules, and procedures.
  2. Knows and complies with State laws, regulations, and recommendations regarding school health and nursing services.
  3. Serves as a consultant to students, parents, teachers, administrators and others.
  4. Provide first aid to students and staff according to basic first aid procedures, utilizing proper techniques.
  5. Implements, and collects data through health screening program including referrals for professional evaluation and diagnosis.
  6. Provides direction and monitoring for the medication administration in accordance with the Medication Aid Act.
  7. Implements individualized health care plans for all students as needed and supervises their care.
  8. Maintains accurate health records, reports and documentation.
  9. Performs activities of the school health office in a professional manner, assuring quality practice, accountability, confidentiality and accuracy of documentation.
  10. Promotes appropriate skills development, communication and teamwork in a positive working relationship with other building employees and health room team.
  11. Participates in staff development and health service teams.
  12. Participates in professional organizations, staff development, health services teams and committee activities. This includes mandatory and punctual attendance at school nurse meetings, team meetings, and committee meetings.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor Nurse, Head Nurse, building administration and Director of Student Services.

Qualifications:

  1. Education Level:  Completion of a Certified Medical Assistant/Certified Nursing Assistant program required.
  1. Certification or Licensure:  Current CPR and First Aid Certificates.
  1. Experience Desired:  Experience as a Certified Medical Assistant Preferred.
  1. Other Requirements:  Possess skills necessary to perform responsibilities.
