Millard Public Schools is searching for hard-working, reliable Grounds Helpers to provide temporary landscaping and outdoor clean-up assistance throughout the district. Work daytime hours (shift TBD; part- to full-time hours may vary), Monday through Friday. Must be over 18 years old with a valid NE driver's license. This is a position that requires routine manual labor associated with grounds maintenance and performs various duties requiring moderate physical strength.  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.  Assist and perform maintenance and repair duties on district grounds:

• Assist in completing tasks associated with the prescribed district-wide beautification program
• Assist with installation of landscaping projects
• Perform varied duties such as planting, transplanting, fertilizing and propagation of ornamental plants; spreading mulch and wood chips; weed pulling; and minor tree and shrub pruning
• Sweep walkways and pick up paper and rubbish, and empty garbage cans as required
• Use hand tools to work soil and remove weeds, undergrowth, and debris from grounds and landscaped areas

2.  Perform additional tasks as assigned and associated with the district's grounds maintenance program

3.  Assimilate to changing productive requirements and handle other essential tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.  Education:  high school diploma or equivalent

2.  Environmental Demands:

• Able to occasionally perform work alone
• Able to perform work with others
• Able to work in adverse weather conditions
• Able to work in extreme cold, heat, wet, and dry conditions
• Able to work in humid conditions
• Able to work with and around motor lubricants, turf, turf chemicals, and/or fuels

3.  Other Requirements:

• Able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff and others
• Able to safely use hand tools (shovel, hoe, rake, etc.)
• Able to use personal protective equipment (PPE) and clothing
• Follow verbal and written directions
• Present a neat, clean appearance
• Experience in commercial grounds and landscaping is highly preferred!

4.  Physical Requirements:  Constant standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling or lifting up to 60 lbs. and frequent carrying up to 50 feet, pushing/pulling 70 lb. of force, and climbing/balancing.
