Title: Systems Analyst / SQL Developer

Reports to:  Excecutive Director of Assessment, Research and Evaluation

 

General Summary:  The Systems Analyst/SQL Developer partners with key stakeholders and users within the district to understand their needs and processes in order to design, develop, implement, and maintain solutions that leverage new or existing applications and technology.

 

Essential job functions:

 

Data Systems

  • Responsible for collecting thorough business/operational, compliance, and integration (data/system) requirements that are defined and owned by various department subject matter experts (SMEs) and/or stakeholders.
  • Become the systems and application process expert to include implementation, configuration, integration, testing, rollout, and ongoing production support. 
  • Evaluate current and future needs to recommend applicable solutions to improve current processes, workflows, and usage of district applications.
  • Develop and maintain functional specifications for new or modified systems.  These specifications should include business objective, process, and workflow considerations, templates, data scope/definitions/mapping, custom development requirements, configuration, and security requirements.
  • Determine and document data mapping rules from medium to complex source data fields to their related target data fields. 
  • Document and maintain detailed data conversion specifications and logic, while seeking high-quality data improvements. 
  • Design, develop, and maintain SQL database systems, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages, and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) packages. 
  • Understand and work with data models, schemas, SQL objects and data object model. 
  • Configure and maintain third-party software applications.  Participate in vendor/software/system upgrades.

 

Teamwork

  • Promote and facilitate collaboration with District leadership teams, project stakeholders and team members, third party solution providers, etc.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Work with teammates and internal and external partners to coordinate activities to meet District and department goals.
  • Keep abreast of technology developments relating to current trends, issues, and educational needs (such as training, reading professional literature, participating in professional organizations).  Share knowledge with others.
  • Engage in meetings and trainings as requested, react to change productively, and perform other duties as assigned.

 

Customer Service

  • Continuously evaluate and identify opportunities to drive process improvements that positively improve the data and our customer experience. 
  • Provide professional, timely response to all district inquiries.
  • Adhere to departmental guidelines for email and meetings.
  • Meet all commitments.

 

Length of Contract: 12 months

Salary: Professional/Technical Salary Schedule

 

Qualifications:

  1. Education Level:  Bachelor’s Degree in a technology related field or equivalent experience
  2. Certification or Licensure:  None required
  3. Required Skills/Experience:
    • Relational database concepts
    • Advanced SQL skills including but not limited to complex queries, joins, stored procedures, functions, and job scheduling
  4. Preferred Skills/Experience:
    • Microsoft SQL Server, Windows Server, and scripting
    • SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
    • K-12 Student Information System
    • Tableau
  5. Other Requirements:
