Millard Public Schools is seeking a strong kitchen helper for its busy kitchen at Black Elk Elementary School

 

Kitchen Helper Position Summary:  Assist Production Manager and Lead in day-to-day operations within the kitchen to ensure a quality breakfast and lunch program for Elementary School student body and faculty.   8:30 am - 2:00 pm

 

  • Operates a variety of kitchen utensils to weigh, measure, mix, wash, peel, cut, grind, stir, strain, season, and knead foodstuffs for cooking, or cold foods, serving and storing.
  • Cleans and prepares vegetables and fruits.
  • Read recipes and/or product directions and assists in the preparation of foods, and properly stores food, utilizing knowledge of temperature requirements and spoilage.
  • Tastes products, read menus, and keep records in order to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment.
  • Clean and sanitize work areas and equipment and must follow all Sodexo, Millard Public Schools and regulatory rules and procedures.
  • Record production numbers on production records as needed and assist in ensuring a safe working environment throughout the facility for all employees, using HACCP, temperature (milk, freezer, refrigerator, line box) logs, reports to Production Manager any service requests and work orders in a timely manner.
  • Preparation of service before the meal and clean kitchen after the meal service or other assigned areas

 

Cashier: Operate a cash register (or Equivalent), receive payments of cash, checks and charges from students and staff for goods or services and making change.

 

  • Maintains proper level of security of cash at all times. Understands and follows Sodexo, and Millard Public schools cash handling policies and procedures.

 

Knowledge and Skills: Applies basic cooking skills and may develop advances skills using tools and equipment appropriate for the position.

 

  • Applies knowledge of department policies and procedures, and utilizes a general understanding of other departments’ functions. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate and receive information in a manner easily understood by fellow staff members and provides the highest quality of service to students and staff at all times.
  • Ability to calculate numbers, correct entries and post to records.  Ability to effectively communicate accounting information polices and/or procedures in a manner easily understood by the students or staff.

Function Specific Experience:   0-1 year of related cashier experience
