SUMMARY OF JOB
The executive director is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of Millard Public Schools Foundation (Foundation). Other key duties include fundraising, marketing, and community outreach. The executive director reports directly to the Board of Directors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborates with the Board of Directors to fulfill the organization mission and objectives.
- Develops and updates the strategic plan to ensure the Foundation can successfully complete its mission into the future
- Ensures the mission and objectives are fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach.
- Implements the Foundation programs that carry out the mission and objectives.
- Communicates with the Board providing timely and accurate information necessary for the Board to function properly and make informed decisions.
- Ensures the fiscal integrity of the Foundation, to include an annual budget and monthly financial statements which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.
- Develops sufficient resources to ensure the financial health of the organization.
- Operates within the board-approved budget, ensuring maximum resource utilization.
- Maintains the organization in a positive financial position.
- Develops a robust fundraising plan to support the Foundation mission and objectives.
- Is actively involved and visible in the community by working closely with community members and professional, civic and private organizations.
- Effectively administers the operations of the Foundation.
- Manages 35 full time staff and 200 part time staff
- Creates a high performing, engaging and productive organizational culture.
- Oversees and implements resources to ensure the operations are appropriate.
- Hires, evaluates and develops competent, qualified staff.
- Signs all notes and agreements made on behalf of the organization.
- Administrates the Kids Network program which provides before and after school care for 2,300 students.
- Supervise the daily operations of 25 sites including the facilities and all agreements.
- Direct efforts to recruit, retain and develop staff.
- Ensures DHHS regulations and other compliance requirements are met.
ACTUAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and foster a positive and engaging workplace culture.
- Plans for and directs the operation of the annual budget.
- Establishes employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operations of the organization.
- Serves as the primary spokesperson for the organization.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with various organization to strategically enhance the Foundation’s mission and objectives.
- Works closely with the Board of Directors to seek their involvement in policy decisions and fundraising and to increase the overall visibility of the organization.
- Plans and implements the strategic plan.
- Oversees the organization of the Board and committees.
- Directs marketing and communication efforts.
- Reviews and approves all contracts.
- Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- A combination of previous leadership experience and education needed to fulfill all job responsibilities.
- A demonstrated track record of success.
- Experience working with a Board of Directors
- Proven ability to collaborate and foster positive relationships with staff, board and community.
- A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required and a Master’s degree is preferred
- Solid budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting.
- Strong organizational skills including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.
- Ability to convey a vision of the Foundation’s strategic future to board, staff, and the community.
- Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to the nonprofit sector.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
