Kitchen Helper Position Summary: Assist Production Manager and Lead in day-to-day operations within the kitchen to ensure a quality breakfast and lunch program for High School student body and faculty.

 

Title: Middle School Kitchen Helper

 

Hours: 12:30pm-5pm Monday through Friday

 

Reports to: Kitchen Manager and/or Production Lead

 

General Summary: Assists with the preparation, serving, and cleanup of food for students.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Performs assigned duties associated with the preparation of meals. Cooks and bakes food, prepares individual portions, and performs other food preparation duties as assigned.(45%)
  • Cleans equipment used, including utensils, dishes, mixers, and machines. Performs general cleaning duties in the kitchen. (25%)
  • Performs miscellaneous food service duties as assigned, including acting as a cashier for lunch (secondary only), putting machines together, counting money, ordering and putting away supplies, and securing food in containers for shipment to other school kitchens. (20%)
  • Serves prepared food to students. (10%)
  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
  • Able to interact with students, building staff, kitchen staff and supervisors in a positive manner.

Qualifications:

  1. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  2. Experience in high-volume food preparation and serving is desired. School kitchen experience is preferred.
  3. Required upon hire to take Food Handlers Class within 30 days of employment.
  4. Other requirements:
  •         Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, students, and others.
  •         Ability and willingness to follow work instructions in all areas of foodservice and maintain a positive attitude toward the foodservice program.
  •         Ability to report to work on time and notify manager at the earliest possible time when unable to work.
