Millard Public Schools is searching for a hard-working, reliable kitchen helper for the West High School foodservice program, providing meals for students, staff, and the Millard community. This is a 10-month position with year-round benefits! Enjoy a rewarding position, providing nourishment for kids in a fun, dynamic environment! Kitchen Helper Position Summary: Assist Production Manager and Lead in day-to-day operations within the kitchen to ensure a quality breakfast and lunch program for High School student body and faculty.
Title: Food Service Helper
Hours: 9 AM - 2:30 PM
Reports to: Food Service Manager, Cook, or Baker
General Summary: Assists with preparing, serving, and cleaning up food for students.
Essential Functions:
- Performs assigned duties associated with the preparation of meals. Cooks and bakes food, prepares individual portions and performs other food preparation duties as assigned. (45%)
- Cleans equipment used, including utensils, dishes, mixers, and machines. Performs general cleaning duties in the kitchen. (25%)
- Performs miscellaneous food service duties as assigned, including acting as a cashier for lunch (secondary only), putting machines together, counting money, ordering and putting away supplies, and securing food in containers for shipment to other school kitchens. (20%)
- Serves prepared food to students. (10%)
- Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
- Able to interact with students, building staff, and supervisors in a positive manner.
Qualifications:
- Education Level: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification or Licensure: None required
- Experience desired: Experience in high volume food preparation and serving is desired. School kitchen experience is preferred.
- Other requirements:
- - Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, students, and others.
- - Ability and willingness to follow instructions work in all areas of foodservice and maintain a positive attitude toward the foodservice program.
- - Ability to report to work on time and notify manager at the earliest possible time when unable to work.
Required upon hire to take Food Handlers Class within 30 days of employment.

- Physical Demands: Specific physical characteristics and abilities are required to perform the work, such as dexterity, long periods of standing, bending, carrying, or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 40 pounds or more
