Millard Public Schools is searching for a hard-working, reliable kitchen helper for the Andersen Middle School food service program, providing meals for students, staff, and the Millard community. This is a 10-month position with year-round benefits!  Enjoy a rewarding position, providing nourishment for kids in a fun, dynamic environment!

Kitchen Helper Position Summary:  Assist Production Manager and Lead in day-to-day operations within the kitchen to ensure a quality breakfast and lunch program for the middle school student body and faculty.  Work 7:30am to 2:00 pm, M-F. 

• - Operates a variety of kitchen utensils to weigh, measure, mix, wash, peel, cut, grind, stir, strain, season, and knead foodstuffs for cooking, serving, and storing
• - Cleans and prepares vegetables and fruits
• - Reads recipes and/or product directions and assists in preparing foods, and properly stores food, utilizing knowledge of temperature requirements and spoilage
• - Tastes products, reads menus and keeps records to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment
• - Cleans and sanitizes work areas and equipment and follows all Sodexo, Millard Public Schools, and regulatory rules and procedures
• - Records production numbers in production records as needed, and assists in ensuring a safe working environment throughout the facility for all employees using HACCP and temperature (milk, freezer, refrigerator, line box) logs. Reports to the Production Manager any service requests and work orders promptly
• - Prepares for meal service and cleans assigned areas after service 

Cashier:  Operates a cash register (or equivalent), receives payments of cash, checks, and charges from students and staff for goods and services. Makes change as required. 

• Maintains the proper level of security of cash at all times. Understands and follows Sodexo and Millard Public Schools' cash handling policies and procedures

Knowledge and Skills:  Applies basic cooking skills and may develop advanced skills using tools and equipment appropriate for the position.

• - Applies knowledge of department policies and procedures, and utilizes a general understanding of other departments’ functions
• - Effectively communicates and receives information in a manner easily understood by fellow staff members, and provides the highest quality service to students and staff at all times
• - Calculates and corrects entries and posts to records.  Effectively communicates accounting information policies and/or procedures in a manner easily understood by the students or staff.

Requirements: Education or Equivalent Experience:  High School diploma or GED
