Do you have a desire to support young adults with achieving the independence they need for a successful transition to adulthood? This unique ACP Paraprofessional position supports 18-21 year old students with disabilities at Millard's Young Adult Program. It is a 6.5 hour per day position working between the hours of 7:30 and 2:05.
This position includes supporting young adults with the development of critical vocational and independent functioning skills. The young adult program uses a varitey of settings such as a simulated apartment (on site), vocational work center (on site) as well as some community opportunities for embedded learning (e.g., Munroe-Meyer Institute, community outings to a variety of locations in the Omaha metro) to teach critical life skills young adults need to be as independent as possible upon completion of the young adult program. This position could include supporting certified teachers with functional academic and vocational instruction, gathering data, assisting young adults with personal hygeine needs (which may include but is not limited to toileting, feeding, lifting and positioning) or providing job coaching as needed.
