Full-Time 12 Month Position at Support Services Center

Title:  Electrician (Group 13)

 

Reports to: Maintenance Manager

 

General Summary: 

 

This position requires routine manual labor associated with installation, modification, testing, inspection and maintenance to electrical items such as but not limited to: lighting, power distribution, circuit controls, and appliances throughout the District both interior and exterior.   Employees in this job classification are under the supervision of the Mechanical Manager.  This position will be responsible for providing cost estimates per job task as well as final costs after jobs are completed.  Additionally, shopping around for the best pricing for materials, and or the best quality product for the job will be required.  Must demonstrate acceptable interpersonal skills and working relations with co-workers, staff, students and general public.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Performs duties associated with electrical work.  Receive, monitor, and complete work orders and schedule work accordingly.   Work will include, but is not limited to; electric motors, controllers, or other auxiliary electrical devices; installing new wiring and electrical machinery; bend and install conduit, install concealed wiring, isolate and repair defective circuits as required, dismantle electrical machinery and break connections; replace defective parts, reassemble and test for proper operations; check and repair lighting systems; work with alarm systems and intercom systems as necessary.   Follows all safety requirements including the use of Lock Out – Tag Out devices, personal protective equipment, etc.  Ability to work from prints and diagrams to determine layout, location, and specifications of items to install, repair or modify.  Update Facility Management Plans/blueprints when changes are made.  Must have thorough understanding of the District’s energy management computer system to know how to test equipment during troubleshooting and make sure it is operating correctly.  Maintain the facility’s electrical distribution systems according to the national, state and local electrical codes, and facility regulatory agencies.  (70%)
  1. Performs tasks associated with the District’s Preventative Maintenance Program.  (15%)
  1. Inventory stock on hand, and requisition supplies as needed with approval from supervisor.  Estimate costs on  materials needed per job.  Maintains appropriate and required paperwork, and prepares reports as needed.  Ability to react to change and handle other essential tasks as assigned.  (15%)
